The daily programme of the congress is now available here.

The 50th Annual Congress of South African Mathematical Society will be hosted by the Department of Mathematics and Applied Mathematics in the Faculty of Science at the University of Cape Town from Wedneday 31 October to Friday 2 November 2007. (Note that Friday 2 November will be a full day; the conference does not end at noon.)

The conference venue is the Kramer Law Building.

Following tradition of the congresses of SAMS, which cover the whole spectrum of research in advanced Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, plenary lectures of 50 minutes each will be presented by six invited speakers on a diverse range of mathematical topics. (see plenary page page for details.)

Regular participants are invited to contribute 20 minute talks on their current research in any area of Mathematics or Applied Mathematics. These will be presented in parallel sessions according to the conference programme. The deadline for submission of abstracts for inclusion in the conference programme is 1 October 2007. Late submissions will only be accommodated in an ad hoc manner and if the programme allows it.

Any member of SAMS interested in organizing and hosting a special parallel session on a specific topic as part of the Congress is welcome to contact the organiser and submit a proposal in this respect before 17 September.

Student participants who are either full time PhD or full time MSc students are invited to enter their talks for evaluation by panel and thereby make themselves eligible for a prize. Prizes will be awarded for the best talks at PhD and MSc level respectively. Proof of current student status should be submitted in addition to the registration form.

For further information, please contact the local organizers.

Immediately following the SAMS conference, UCT will be hosting the International Conference on
Infinity in Logic and Computation
